Once last glance from Puyallup, Washington
By Serena Nabeta | April 7, 2009
One of my reasons (actually the most important! LOL!!! :)) for deciding to attend the Sew Expo in Puyallup was that my friend, Joanna Nabeta, was in the Bernina Runway to Everyday Challenge. Each of the participants were given a selection of fabrics and patterns from Linda Lee and the Sewing Workshop to make their garments. They could embellish, change and alter whatever they wanted to to make the garment their own style, just keeping to a couple of requirements. Here’s some more info and a bio of all the participants.
Joanna spent quite a while deciding what to do and then implementing it. The results are beautiful!!!! Here’s some pics that she said I could post. At some point Bernina will be showing photos and a video of the fashion show on their site, but I’m not sure when that will be, so these are before the show shots.

dress and jacket – it’s hard to see in the photo, but the jacket attached with a neat little loop attachment that’s embellished

The jacket is embellished with embroidery (which Joanna created and digitized!) and little crystals adding just a little sparkle in the embroidery.

Sleeve detail with embroidery and green piping.
