Fall fabric bowl decoration
By Serena Smith | October 14, 2008

The last few days have really felt like Fall here in Kansas! This my center fall decoration on our kitchen table. It is a large square fabric bowl I made from Fun, Fast and Easy Bowls several years ago.
To create the bowl shape and edges you satin stitch the raw edge of the fused fabric and timtex. I used a variegated rayon embroidery thread in fall colors and it just adds to the fall theme along with the embroidered leaves on each turned down corner.
Then I found a caramel-smelling candle and the same scented potpourri and combines those two in the bowl! Perfect!!
I’ve put this on the table every year for the last couple of years and have never lit the candle until now. Amazingly the scent of the candle and potpourri is still evident even when the candle isn’t lit; even after several years!

It’s gorgeous! I’ve never made a fabric bowl, but have often thought about it…maybe I should give it a try!

Very cute! I have the book and the timtex, but haven’t tried it. Love the variegated thread you used.
