The last from the Sew Expo
By Serena Nabeta | March 27, 2009
Probably one of the most exciting things, although brief, was meeting Debbie from my online Latte Quilt class. There are some of you from WA, but I guess I didn’t expect anyone to pick me out from a crowd of people. Not that I was trying to hide in that crowd, but there were lots of people there. :) So I was rather surprised when Debbie came up to me and said, “Are you Serena?”. But that was fun. Too bad we didn’t get to chat a bit longer! :)
One of the seminars I attended at Sew Expo was from Pam Damour who does a lot of home dec items. She is a fun speaker and I picked up a couple helpful things from her class. One thing I liked among other things she shared was the fact that she uses a fabric folding pen to help in creasing fabric. For us teachers it’s great because you can create a firm crease in the fabric without heating up an iron during demonstrations or seminars. But it also works great to fold fabrics for paper piecing, quick seams or anywhere you need to make a firm crease and don’t have access to an iron. Perfect!
And this is “just because”. Don’t you know that every time you attend a sewing/quilt show, that you have to have a “just because” purchase? Lol!!! I found this little scissor holder and really liked it and I can put it to good use, so I bought it.
Let’s see…..what else happened over the last four days of the Expo? Ummm….way too much! My mind is in overload! Whenever I go to shows, I take my camera and my notebook and pen. That way when I see something I like, want to remember or would like to investigate further, I can take a photo (if possible) or write a note to check out that “thing” I saw or want to do. The sad thing is that there are a couple things I still would like to investigate that are in my notebook from quilt market last fall. Yikes!
So my notebook is full. My mind is overwhelmed. My to-do list is overflowing. And my feet are exhausted! The first thing I want to do when I get home is start on some of these things, but as the way life is, other things must come first.
It was fun and exciting to attend the Sew Expo this year and I hope I’m able to go again next year. And next year, I’d love to meet YOU if you are there. Just drop me a note or if you see me, say hi!! :)
